SPAIN ADVENTURE    2012

Enjoy a full two weeks exploring beautiful Spain! From Madrid to Seville to Barcelona, you will experience Spain at it’s best! This will be Joye and dave’s 19th International group tour that will visit the Alhambra in Granada, Mezquita in Cordoba and the Alcazar in Seville as well as the Prado Museum and the Royal Palace in Madrid. Barcelona will charm you with the Rambla, the Gaudi architecture and the Sagrada Familia. Flamenco dancing, local cuisine and wines plus visits to local artisan will add to the adventure.

Daily Itinerary:
April 16- Fly to Madrid, Spain [you will leave the United States on this date with an overnight flight]
April 17- Transfer Madrid airport to Hotel Senator Gran Via: [D]
We will enjoy a panoramic bus tour of Madrid with our local guide. Tonight we will enjoy a welcome dinner at a local restaurant.
April 18- Full Day Escorted Tour of Madrid:[B & L]
Enjoy a full day tour of Madrid’s highlights. Discover the capitol city with an escorted tour of the world famous Prado Museum and the Royal Palace. The armory is our favorite! Enjoy a casual group lunch today.
April 19- Full Day Escorted Tour of Toledo: [B & L]
A full day escorted tour of Toledo will include Cathedral of St. Tome and St. Mar. A group lunch will be included with time to explore on your own.
April 20- Transfer Via AVE Train to Seville: Grand Lar Hotel [B & D]:
We will take the AVE train to Seville. We will tour the Atocha Tarin Station before transfing to our hotel, the Grand Lar Hotel. The Atocha Station was completely renovated and is now a jewel depicting its 1888 origins. We will enjoy a true Tapas Dinner at a local reastaurant.
April 21- Half day tour of Seville: [B]
This half day escorted tour will include the Gothic Cathedral, the Giralda bell tower and the magnificent Alcazar with it’s amazing landscaped gardens. The rest of the day you have at leisure. You could explore the bullfighting ring, Plaza de Torros de la Maestranza and Museum which began in 1761.
April 22- Full Day tour of Cordoba: [B & L]
This day will include a tour of the Mezquita, Cordoba’s famous mosque built in the 12th century. 850 columns of granite and jasper will astound you. This mosque was converted into a Christian Cathedral in 1371. We will also tour the Alcazar Gardens close by. Group lunch included at a local restaurant.
April 23- Half Day at Equestrian Ranch: [B & L]
Our bus will take us just outside Seville to enjoy a day at Cortijo Dona Maria to visit the stables and carriage museum followed by a fantastic equestrian riding show, “Passion Ecuestre” Lunch will be served at the ranch.
April 24- Transfer to Granada: Hotel Granada Center [B]
After transferring to Granada we will tour the Alhambra Palace, regarded as one of the ten architectural wonders of the world. There will be time to visit the Gerealife Gardens on the grounds of the Alhambra. Enjoy an authentic Flamenco Show this evening.
April 25- Transfer to Mijas Costa and Cave tour: Hotel Calamijas [B & L]
During our transfer to Mijas Costa, we will stop to tour the caves, Cuevas de Nerja. This is a series of vast caverns that were discovered in 1959. The cathedral size chamber can hold 100 people and is adorned with 20,000 year old cave paintings.
April 26- Full Day tour of Malaga: [B]
Our trip to Malaga will include the Picasso Museum and the Alcazaba, an Arab Palace built in the 11th century by King Badis of Granada.
April 27- Full Day tour of Ronda: [B & L]
The picturesque city of Ronda is perched on a massive outcropping of limestone cliffs. The quaint whitewashed houses are a Moorish tradition. Our walking tour will explore the Puente Nuevo, the new bridge, which is the symbol of the city. Our tour will include the ancient city hall, the house of Don Bosco and the church of Maria de la Cecarnacion and the Mondagon Palace.
April 28- Free Day to Explore Mijas Cota [B & D]
Enjoy your final day at leisure to explore, shop or relax at the pool. A farewell dinner will be enjoyed at a local restaurant.
April 29- Transfer to Airport for return flights: [B]
Our group will have an early transfer from the hotel to catch our return flights. We will fly from the Malaga Airport to Madrid to catch our connecting flights home.
