I hope you will enjoy the 2005 Internet Exhibit. I started exploring collage work after being invited to have a one woman show at the Pagosa Springs Arts Council in Colorado during the summer of 2004. That’s why most of the landscapes deal with mountains, trees, rivers and streams. Many paintings from this series were exhibited at the Pagosa Springs exhibit but many have been created this past autumn in Wisconsin. Some compositions begin with a watercolor painting underneath. Collage papers are added for texture and definition. Others are totally made with specialty papers exclusively. I have introduced ink work into the paintings to complete each composition. I feel the ink drawing enhances and clearifies the paintings.
The watercolor paintings are varied in subject matter. I hope you will enjoy the variety of florals, landscapes and abstractions.
If you are interested in purchasing a painting either contact me via e-mail or telephone. Also, when you're done looking at the show, be sure to see my collection of cards, brushes, Giclée prints, paints, and books that are also available for purchase.
I hope you enjoy the show!
I created this collage painting while sitting along the San Juan River in
front of my good friend, Wendy’s house. She and Randy have lived there
for many years and it is a delight to be there. The river keeps gurgling by
and the sun moves over the mountains to change the scenery every
moment of every day.

This painting began in Colorado and was completed in Wisconsin. I think memories are the best visual tool for completing a painting.

I was doing business at my local camera shop, Camera Casino, when I spotted the owner with some great photo’s. His family had just been out to Zion National Park and took fabulous snapshots. I OOH’ed and AAH’ed over them and asked if I could have a few to work from. This composition started as a painting, then collage papers and ink were used to finish it off.

I had great fun using a variety of collage papers in this painting. I really got into the ink drawing portion of the project, detailing branches, grasses and the mountain range in the distance.

This scene was created by my memories of Sedona, AZ. Dave and I traveled there several years ago and one can not be impressed by the red rock in that region. Of course it is not exact....only my impressions of the area.

This composition started out as a painting and I thought it would be
fun to add some white rice paper to create some extra texture. I then used
ink to give the composition a finished look and more definition.

This painting started as a demo piece. The project was a pouring
project and I felt it wasn’t going anywhere. So, I decided to add some
colored rice papers to it and things were looking better. I then drew with
ink to complete. All in all, the additions made for a stronger composition
with unexpected colors and textures.

Some of the river gorges in Colorado have this bold look with massive rocks and tranquil waters. I used watercolor and gouache to enhance the collage papers. I hope it presents that quiet time at twilight.

I enjoy this longer format. It gives the viewer a bit more of a panoramic
view. This composition is totally imaginary so I could create my own
fantasy landscape.

This tiny painting was the very first collage done for this series.
Although simple in composition, I must admit, I learned a great deal from
this little collage. I started by assembling the collage papers, added
some watercolor and ink to finish it up.

I started this painting with absolutely no composition in mind. I just
let the collage papers build and build. Once I saw my scene in it, I used
ink to define the composition.

Farther north from Pagosa Springs, CO., you can find the Rio Grand
River. This tranquil scene is typical of area along the Rio Grand. The
colors remind me of Autumn in Colorado.

collage. I completed by using quite a bit of drawing to define the tulip
shapes and the background.

I was so captivated by the landscape before my eyes from Doris and
Walter Green’s home outside Pagosa Springs, CO. This composition
was first drawn from their deck overlooking this panoramic view of the
mountain ranges that circle that tiny town. I used it as a demonstration
piece for the workshop I taught there in July of 2004. I added the collage
papers and ink to strengthen the composition.

This tiny painting is a close up view of Aspen branches. Close up
compositions can sometimes give you a completely different perspective.
Things ordinary become special in a whole new way.

I wanted to show the massive quality of the Rockies in this little
painting. By adding smaller trees in the foreground, I created a sense of
scale.

tranquil feeling one gets at the end of the day. The mountains are
imaginary but the feeling real.

I wanted to break away and create something completely abstract after
working with definite subject matter. I used complimentary colors to
develop this vibrant abstraction.

This watercolor has a sun dappled quality. The perspective is a bit
different because we are not looking straight on to the landscape but
looking up from below. The leaf covered stairway invites you into the
scene.

This painting is out my back door in Wisconsin. It faces west so we
get the most beautiful sunsets. The color from the sky was reflecting on
the newly fallen snow to create warmth in the scene.

tape as a resist, spraying paint around objects, creating textures and color

I had a free day to explore the surrounding area outside Pagosa
Springs, CO. I chose a quiet spot along the East Fork of the San Juan
River where nature is untouched. I hope this scene portrays the peace I
felt as well as the colorful nature of the area.

This painting was created on the same day as “Afternoon at East
Fork”. The location is unspoiled by development. One could hear the
birds through the gentle breeze rustling the trees. The peaceful sound of the near by stream made for a very pleasant day.

I had an idea for a painting that began with a snapshot taken under
some aspen trees. This painting and the next two are a result from the
same photo. This composition wasn’t exactly the image I had in my head
but I completed it and was pleased with the results.

This third composition done from the same photo was exactly what I
was struggling for! I was glad I hung in there to get to this painting.
Sometimes I feel if I have a good idea, I must stay with it until I get it right.
I needed to use brighter blues and oranges to be completely satisfied
with the painting. And I still have 3 paintings to exhibit for all my efforts. Received the Award of Excellence at the Awarehouse

This painting is a scene from Lake Geneva, WI. These row boats and
canoes were all piled up and snow covered. I really enjoyed painting the
shadows falling across the boats and snow. Since the day was soft and
quiet, I incorporated casein with watercolor to create a mellow
atmosphere. Received the Award of Excellence at the Center for the Visual Arts in Wausau, WI.

I have regretted not incorporating the maple syrup containers that
were hanging on the sides of the maple trees. Perhaps I should paint

This tiny painting is a stand of trees that lead down to the lake in front
