On Winslows' Pathway
This was painted the second day along the same path
that Winslow Homer used by his Prouts Neck home and studio. Coming from
the midwest, I learned to paint quickly to capture the rock formations
before the incoming tide would cover them up.

A Foggy Day At Prouts Neck
The third and last day of painting produced this quiet
scene along the coast. I wished for a gray Maine day, such as Winslow
had often experienced, and got it.

Pemaquid Lighthouse, Maine
In October of 2003, I taught a plein aire class based
out of Boothbay Harbor. We decided to head for Pemaquid since the weather
was cooperating. We painted as a groups all day and I finished two paintings
that day plus drew on another to be finished in the studio back at our
Bed and Breakfast, The Pond House.

Pemaquid Silhouette
The front of the lighthouse gives a completely different
view of the complex. We painted this scene as a group project in our
studio at the Pond House.

Rocks at Pemaquid
This scene is the view facing north from the lighthouse.
The sculpted Maine rocks , evergreen trees and sumac made for a great
color combination.

Pemaquid Tower
This painting was started by wetting the sky with water
and after applying color, taking that same color and running it onto
the dry surface of the tower and down through the land. I call it color-continuation
to hold the painting together with a consistent color beginning.

On the Rocks
I used the silhouetting effect in the watercolor to
give a graphic quality to the painting.

Hendrick's Headlight
This was painted on a silky soft day. I couldn't resist
using naples yellow to capture the feeling the day gave me. The Hendrick's
Headlight is located at West South Port just outside Boothbay Harbor.

Maine Coast
This painting was made by using surgical gauze to create
the trees, wax paper to create the rocks and plastic wrap to form the
water area. Fun!

Lake Butte des Mortes
This scene was painted from our dock over the water.
I enjoy watching the sun dance on the trees and water.

Out My Back Door
This scene is literally out my back door. The variety
of trees through the neighboring yard always captivates me.

Autumn at the Back Door
This is the same view as in painting #12 only it is
now Autumn and the colors have changed dramatically.

and Garden in Oshkosh, WI. I taught a plein aire class at my home in
August , 2003. The group spent on day painting at the Paine Art Center
and Garden in Oshkosh, WI. The flowers were magnificent last summer
and on into the fall.

Along the Pike River
Our friends in Wausaukee live along the Pike River.
This scene reminds me of an early spring day at their waters edge.

California Coast
There are so many beautiful cypress trees along the
Californian coast that it is hard to choose just one to paint. This
is representational of the 'Lone Cypress' along the 7 mile drive of
the Monterey Peninsula.
Giclee Prints available.

Coastal Trees
This painting is representational of the trees along
the coast of California. The painting was accomplished by using Halloween
cob webbing to produce the textures that were interpreted into tree
shapes.
